Capturing Production Sound for the Benefit of the Audience

Writer's picture: James MolinaJames Molina

After attending the screening of A Star is Born at Dolby Laboratories in Burbank, Production Sound Mixer Steve Morrow elaborated on how Important it was to Director Bradley Cooper for the production sound team to capture every nuance of the actors voice from the intimate low volume singing and dialogue to the live on stage high volume performance. This attention to detail made the film’s sound track seamless and organic. Production sound team worked together with the post sound team months before the actual filming so to prepare for any obstacles they may come to. The results are stellar and a testament to collaboration and communication. This is something we feel passionate about at MelodyGun.

There's so many more anecdotes and workflows in this article posted on the local IATSE chapter. Fantastic read for anyone on-set and off!
